Sometimes the answer to "why?" has to be "Because it just is." but there is nothing like helping someone to find their own (real) answer, and then seeing them realise the consequences of that answer.
I am not worried if my students never pick up a pencil or brush ever again, but if they can walk into any Museum or Gallery in their future and understand how to apprehend what they see without feeling threatened, then I have done something right.
I am constantly learning how to "fail different every day"
... and just sometimes I almost feel like this (rant) about teaching.
